Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

Account information (name, email, organization name). Student data entered by counselors (names, schools, test scores, notes, tasks, documents). Usage data (page visits, feature usage — for improving the product).

2. How We Use It

To provide and improve the Areté service. To communicate with you about your account. To fix bugs and understand how the product is used. We never sell your data to third parties. We never use student data for advertising.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Our infrastructure is hosted by Supabase (PostgreSQL) and Vercel.

4. Authentication

We use Google OAuth and email/password authentication via Supabase Auth. We do not store raw passwords — they are hashed by our auth provider.

5. Cookies

We use minimal, functional cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

Google OAuth (authentication), Supabase (database and auth), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (AI features — your data is sent to generate summaries and suggestions, subject to Anthropic's data policies).

7. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete individual student records at any time. Organization administrators can request full data deletion by contacting us. We retain data only as long as your account is active.

8. Student Data

Areté is used by counselors, not directly by students. However, student information is entered and managed through the platform. We treat all student data with the same care as personally identifiable information and handle it in compliance with applicable data protection regulations.
